Italy (Rome & The Vatican City)

To Rome now, and of course, the Colosseum.
The holes are where the small peices of metal holding the base rock together
(long after the marble had been stolen) were removed.
Metal was expensive back then, no mines.

Dangerous Dave and his contiki posse.
That huge marbel building behind is empty. It is just a big statue.

Trevi Fountain.

Trevi Fountain.

Piazza Navona. Think Ben Hur and the chariot racing, this is where it happened.

The Spanish Steps - and who could ignore that suit posing to have it's photo taken.
I took multiple photos, price on application.

The Spanish Steps (spot the suit again, if you can).

More people got on this train before the ordeal ended.

In the Vatican City they paint lookalike 3D relief work.
It's so real you need your shadow or to touch the walls to break the illusion.
I'm sure thousands go through here every day and never realise this mammoth undertaking.
It's all throughout the buildings.

Don't take photos of this amazing work by Michaelangelo.
You might affect a Vatican income stream selling prints.

Inside St Peters, the largest cathedral in the world. Opulance is understating it by so much.

Sometimes they forego the marble and gold for a small painting.

There are no signs, but believe me, you too can go up here to dangle
your brand new $1500 camera up over an 8 foot fence.

Get to the very top and the views are amazing. I took a lot of photos up here.
And yes, you can walk the entire way around.

Here's a bunch of people who found the way up too. This is, I think, the highest point in Rome.

Castel S. Angelo. I think it means castle of angels. I didn't go in... but how good is that water!

Back to the Colosseum. Inside today.

Inside with Craig. And half of our tour, actually, they just aren't in the photo.
